One-on-One Literacy Tutoring for Low-Income Students

Reading Partners aims to help low-income elementary school children become lifelong readers by providing research-validated reading instruction that enables these youngsters to read at grade level by fourth grade.

RP serves 19 Baltimore City Schools. Student/tutor pairs work together twice a week for 45 minutes, using individualized reading plans based on student assessment and a nationally developed curriculum.

The Baltimore Women’s Giving Circle’s grant allowed Reading Partners to provide innovative summer programming at select sites to prevent or reduce summer learning loss.
