Humanim’s City Seeds culinary program creates economic opportunities for Baltimore City residents with barriers to employment. City Seeds offers a 16-week training program in all aspects of food preparation and kitchen and front-of-the-house management, along with individual counseling to help each woman maximize her strengths and become a reliable employee. Each woman is guaranteed employment after graduation, either with Humanim or with partner organizations.
For entrepreneurs, City Seeds runs The School of Food, a yearlong program that equips them to run and grow a small food business, through individual coaching and financial skills classes.
Funding from the Baltimore Women’s Giving Circle is being used to pay part of the salary of an additional Case Manager to provide training and support for another 20 women in the kitchen training program and 25 women in the School of Food with enriched support for their post-program needs.
