International Rescue Committee assists immigrants, whose lives have been shattered by conflict and disaster, construct new lives and livelihoods.  The Women to the Workplace project is needed to support the workforce developments needs of immigrant women. As men typically have more work experience prior to arriving in the U.S., they are the first to secure employment and households can qualify as "self-sufficient" without employing female household members. Connecting women to the workforce is fundamental for low-income families to become economically independent, access disposable income, build assets and ultimately put their households on a path toward true economic well being.

The Baltimore Women's Giving Circle grant will support staff capacity to secure childcare subsidies (vouchers) for mothers and to teach women how to use public transportation to get to work.
