DOVE: Social Worker and Emergency Client Assistance

Northwest Hospital’s domestic violence intervention program, DOVE, serves over 900 Baltimore County women who have experienced domestic violence each year. The program aims to ensure safety for these women through a 24/7 hospital-based crisis intervention program and partnership with the Baltimore County Police Department. Since 2004, DOVE has provided immediate crisis management, short-term stabilization, safety planning, court appearances, group and individual therapy, and education and training.

The Baltimore Women’s Giving Circle’s grant helped support DOVE’s part-time social worker, who offers both evening and weekend hours for individual counseling and group therapy. The grant support also helped DOVE provide emergency funds for clients who needed money for rent, food, diapers, moving expenses, transportation, and other necessities.
