Sarah’s Hope Family Shelter

St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore aims to ensure people living in poverty gain skills and resources to achieve their full potential. St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore has provided community services to people experiencing the effects of hunger, homelessness, and poverty in Baltimore for more than 150 years.

Its Sarah’s Hope Family Shelter (SHFS) program provides 24-hour services, including emergency shelter and family-centered support. SHFS aims to help each family quickly regain self-sufficiency and find permanent housing. In 2015, SHFS doubled its capacity, allowing it to help 150 homeless families in the Sandtown-Winchester area of Baltimore City.

The Baltimore Women’s Giving Circle’s two-year grant helped SHFS continue and expand its services and family-centered support services, including child placement in schools and moving families to transitional and permanent housing.
