March is Women’s History Month and this year marks a historic milestone for many in Baltimore: the 20th anniversary of the Baltimore Women’s Giving Circle (BWGC). Founded by Shelley Goldseker and Pam Corckran in 2001, the BWGC has granted more than $5 million dollars to organizations that empower and support women with health, housing, job training and afterschool programs, among others. The group began with 50 members, but currently has more than 450 bringing diverse perspectives and varied areas of expertise to their collaborative grantmaking process. “We get to know what we each care about,” said Anne Donahue, a member since 2002, in a recent video, “but also what our biases are, where we are lacking in knowledge and where we have expertise... I have made many friends through the Circle and there’s a depth to the friendships because of those shared interests.” Watch the BWGC video here and learn more about their inspiring grantees at: https://www.thebwgc.org/impact
