Women who visit CARES, likely the head of the household, often face impossible choices between buying groceries and medicines and paying utilities and rent. Often a sudden, unexpected hardship such as loss of a job, illness or family tragedy can interrupt a person’s ability to pay their rent. The need for rent assistance is enormous, as CARES gets an average of 5 requests a day for help with eviction notices.
The BWGC funds will provide financial assistance to women facing eviction and support operating expenses.
